We offer lessons in voice and piano as well as individual audition prep sessions. Our space is limited per instructor so a request must be made before the lessons can be scheduled. Audition preparations can be scheduled individually. All other lessons (voice, piano, etc) are scheduled in groups of 4 lessons at a time. Each student can sign up on a month to month or semester by semester basis.

Lawren Hill, soprano, is thrilled to join Authentic Community Theater as their voice and piano instructor! Lawren holds a teaching position at St James School and was formerly a part of the Frostburg University voice faculty. She also maintains a large private studio of voice and piano students with Music and Arts. Lawren is extraordinarily passionate about teaching and cares very deeply for her students, spending the vast majority of her time in the studio.
Recent performances include the soprano soloist in Mozart’s Requiem, the title role in Amahl and the Night Visitors with Opus Concert Theater, Fanny Wiggins in Sousa’s Chris and the Wonderful Lamp, and Mabel in Pirates of Penzance with Way Off Broadway. Miss Hill’s previous credits include the soprano soloist in Poulenc’s Gloria with the Masterworks Chorale of Massachusetts, Sophie* in Werther (Boston Opera Collaborative), ensemble in Sir John in Love (Odyssey Opera), Josephine in HMS Pinafore (Ohio Light Opera), Gretel in Hansel and Gretel (Shepherd University), and the soprano soloist in Handel’s Messiah with the Masterworks Chorale (SU). She has also been a soloist with the Maryland Symphony Orchestra and performed with the enCanta Collective in New York City. Scene work includes Le Nozze di Figaro, Lakmé, and Carmen.
Ms. Hill is a graduate of the Manhattan School of Music (MSM) where she received a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance, and of Shepherd University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance. Lawren enjoys musical outreach, including serving as the music director for the Rural Artists Project in Bristol Bay, Alaska, and various outreach performances all over Manhattan for children and the elderly.
Zayna Burnham: Wednesdays
Zayna Burnham has her BS in Music Education from Messiah College and her MA in Curriculum and Instruction from McDaniel College. She has studied voice at Peabody Preparatory Institute for two years and at Messiah College for four years.
She has taught vocal lessons in Carroll County and in Washington County. She also taught choral music at Liberty High School and North Hagerstown High School for 19 years and has music directed many musicals over the last 19 years at Liberty High School, September Song, North Hagerstown High School and most recently Les Miserables and West Side Story with Authentic Community Theatre (ACT).
