Our Board

With over 35 years of experience in audio engineering, Mike Sokol brings to ACT a level of technical expertise that is difficult to find.  Mike's skills in the art and science of sound design make him an invaluable asset to our community, and his teaching and leadership skills allow Authentic Community Theatre to expand our technical programs to train the next generation of audio engineers. Mike is the author of the book: The Acoustic Musician's Guide to Sound Reinforcement & Live Recording, and he is an editor of noshockzone.org, an electrical safety blog.

JenniLynn Hughes graduated from Eastern University in St. Davids, Pennsylvania in 2007 with a B.S. in Business Management and is currently pursuing her MBA at Frostburg University. Jenni currently works as a Program Analyst for the US Department of Defense.  As one of the founding board members of Authentic Community Theatre, Jenni initially brought her acting and vocal experience to our artistic family. She now lends us her organizational talents and business expertise, which makes her the ideal Vice President for our board. Jenni has been with Authentic Community Theatre since 2005.

Janet Brooks Hughes graduated from Shenandoah University and also holds an MBA from Frostburg University. Janet spent thirteen years with Hewlett-Packard, working in finance and marketing.  Since 2005, Janet has designed and created hundreds of costumes for the theatrical productions of Authentic Community Theatre, with an attention to detail that reflects the culture here at ACT.  Though many demands are put upon her, Janet always ensures that every pirate hat and every pair of wings fits every one of our students just right.  She joined the ACT Board in 2008.

Donna M. Kross is Registered Pharmacist who studied at St. John's University in Queens, New York. Born with a Kodak Instamatic in her hand, she has been a photographer for the vast majority of her life. Donna's photographs of ACT's various programs have become an essential chronicle of our great artistic efforts. Donna became involved with Authentic Community Theatre through her children's interest in the performing arts, and has been on the Board since 2009.

Rachel Kern studied Communications & Marketing at Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania and graduated with a B.S. in 2009.  She is currently pursuing her MBA at Frostburg University while working as a Program Analyst for the Department of Defense.  Rachel teaches Authentic Community Theatre's children's choir at the Boys and Girls Club, and graciously lends the Board her grant-writing skills and her experience with non-profit development. She has been a part of the ACT family since 2011.
