Rachel Kern, our newest Board Member, along with Emily Sanders and Amy McCullough, ran a youth choir at the Boys & Girls Club this summer.  Their performance in August was a great success and ACT plans to run the choir year-round after school.

SIFTA 2011 has concluded!  Thanks to everyone who made this year successful, including our many fantastic instructors, interns, and volunteers! 

SIFTA's Performing Arts Program presented a showcase performance titled Of Dreams & Sleep on Thursday, July 28 that featured music from AFT and Michael Jackson and scenes from several famous works by William Shakespeare.  SIFTA's Music Academy presented a showcase performance on Thursday, June 23 that featured two original works based on Little Red Hen and Stone Soup.  SIFTA's Art in the Woods had a successful two weeks full of fantastic art projects.

This year's Storytelling in the Parks featured an original work by Drew Rittenhouse that was based on Mo Willem's book, Leonardo the Terrible Monster.  The book, which follows Leonardo on a journey of self-discovery, has anti-bullying themes. 

The work was performed at six Washington County parks and the performances were free to the public.

On Friday, June 18, 2010, the 2010 Summer Institute for the Arts hosted a showcase performance entitled "Working Title," a celebration of ACT's past five years of original work.  The production included work from Alice in Maryland (2005), The Phantom Tollbooth (2007), Voices in the Forest (2008), Know Love, Know Power (2008), Mockingbird Sing (2008), A Beautiful Fool (2009), and Never Land (2009). 

The previous night, participants of SIFTA Academy and SIFTA Apprenticeship's Rock Band program presented their work.

ACT, along with dance students from South Hagerstown High School, performs at Hagerstown's HollyFest at the Maryland Theatre.

Each summer, Authentic Community Theatre, Inc.'s Creative Arts Team brings an original "storytelling" to parks in Washington County.  This summer, we performed Let the Magic Be, an original work written by Matthew Ancarrow and performed by Matthew Ancarrow, Gillian Kramer, Diana Gilbert, and Nikki Moats.  The performances took place the week of June 21, 2010 and were a smashing success!
